By carefully orienting Fazán to capture the site’s spectacular views over the neighboring vineyards, the resulting structure is transparent and light-filled. Blurring the line between indoor and outdoor space, the home is centered around a large courtyard with huge glass doors that fully open, bringing the outside in and enlarging its relatively modest foot print. Originally built as a vacation home and to entertain the client’s frequent guests, a gourmet kitchen and opulent Napa-style spa command a large portion of the home’s footprint. However, Fazán’s time as a vacation home was fleeting. After falling in love with it, the client made Fazán his primary residence.
